Well my stand got here 3 weeks ago now, it is awesome! Unfortunately, I have not used it yet. I can’t believe that something this cool, that I waited so long for with back order parts is not being put to hard use! I did get the pumps mounted along with the chill plate, but I still have to cut my hoses to the right length and do a water brew.

Not that I’m complaining, but my hops have already reached the top of my trellis. My trellis is only 12 feet high and I knew it would grow over, but I was planning more for June to have this problem, not May 1st. What to do now?

A keggle is not really as complicated as you may think. All it requires is a bit of planning, a couple tools and some parts. Of course you’ll also need a keg. How you procure a keg I’m not going to get into, we will just assume you acquired nice and legal like.

So you have decided to make the commitment to growing your own hops. You bought the rhizomes, you put them in the ground, and now they are starting to grow like Audrey in the Little Shop of Horrors. What to do now, it is actually pretty simple. The first thing is to build a trellis, there are many different types, most have some type of twine that the bine can wrap around up 20-30′. (I’m building a new trellis this year, so I will discuss that in another post.) Hops grow very quickly, up to 12″ a week so it is best to be prepared.

So it has been a couple of weeks since I posted anything about the Brew Steel single tier brew stand I ordered. My last post was when Kurt asked me if I wanted a design change to save some money on the build. Since then, Kurt got a couple weeks behind on my stand. But this didn’t bother me. First because he let me know and apologized for the delay. Secondly I’d like to think that he’s building it correctly for someone else and then in turn will build mine with the same craftsmanship. While my stand is not completed yet, Kurt sent me a couple of progress photos of my stand. Here they are:
